Organize
Your Information

Not every person is going to need this page, so don't feel you have to read the information here. But if you want help organizing the information for your web site, this may be the page you want to see.

The first part of this page is general for any type of small business. The second part applies specifically to ranches.  We suggest printing this page and using the lists as a guide to organizing your information. The task will seem smaller and go easier if you work on the pages one at a time.

When you finish, simply email a page at a time to Whispering Hope Ranch Web Designs.

General Organization

Begin by deciding what message you want your web site to give and your purpose. Is your web site to sell something or promote your ranch or business name?

For a business, general pages include: Welcome Page, Our Company, Product Information, Photos, Customer Testimonials, Shipping Information and an Order Form.

For a ranch, page types include: Welcome Page, About Our Ranch, Our Stallions, Our Mares, New Foals, Sales, Awards. If necessary, Sales Pages can be divided into Weanling Fillies, Weanling Colts, Mares, Geldings and Stallions or by other categories.

For either type of web site, additional page choices might include a Guest Book, Customer Response Form, Links Page, Fun Photos page, Site Map or Search Our Site feature. Also, decide which web rings you would like to join.

Once you know which types of pages you want, jot down notes about the information and pictures you would like to see included on each page. Then send the notes from this page to your designer.

Organization for
Your Ranch Web Page

Home Page Organizer

The Home page generally should be a Welcome page that tells what people will find in your web site. You generally do not want too much on this page, as you want the home page to load quickly. It’s nice to have one really good shot for this page. A picture of a mare with a foal or a stallion running in a pasture make a good shot.

If this is a Welcome page, you need:

  1. Logo or Photo logo (Your web designer can help with this if you don’t have one.)

  2. Your Ranch name.

  3. Your name or names.

  4. Your address.

  5. Phone.

  6. Fax.

  7. Ranch or business Motto? (Your web designer can help with this if you don’t have one.)

  8. A welcoming statement that tells your goals and what your web site contains.

See the section marked About Our Ranch Organizer for other ideas.
